Access to Vancouver Island is via the BC Ferries Service or via the airports located near Victoria and Nanaimo. BC Ferries has a fleet of over 40 vessels serving Vancouver Island and BC's Sunshine coast. From the mainland, ships depart from Tsawwassen to Schwartz Bay, (Vancouver Island). From Schwartz Bay to Victoria is a 32 km (20 miles) drive. There is another terminal at Departure Bay (Nanaimo) and also at Dukes Point Terminal ten minutes south of Nanaimo. On the mainland side are the Horseshoe Bay Terminal in West Vancouver. Other Islands serviced by BC Ferries include Salt Spring, North and South Pender Island, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, and Texada.
