Flora and Fauna
Do not trample off the trail as some plant life is very delicate, such as deer fern, wild flowers and mosses. Even though some only show themselves for short periods in the year, they are still vulnerable to unnecessary abuse.
Most wild flowers are protected by law. Please Leave Them Be. Do not pick and do not try to dig them up. Many wild flowers are bulbs buried very deep into the soil. Once picked, they will not last the trip back to your car.
Many different species of birds can be spotted in this area. Many rare and sometimes very un-regional types stop in to rest on their migratory routes. For example, Osprey visit us March through October, followed by Trumpeter Swans who welcome the winter months with their honking and play antics in the water ways throughout the valley. As well, some of these birds are protected by law, as is the Trumpeter, for their low population numbers. The Stellar Jay, native to B.C., may also join you in your travels of the area.
Please do your part in helping to preserve these areas for the flora and fauna. Report anything you find out of the ordinary. If you see anything out of the ordinary, please contact, toll free;
